What professional accreditation means
Some UK computing degrees are accredited by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. According to BCS, accredited degrees meet, in part or in full, the academic requirements for professional registration such as Chartered IT Professional (CITP). Accreditation is one useful signal of quality, but it is not essential for every career, and many good courses are not accredited.

- Look at the group project: is it with a real client or a simulated brief?
- Check the tools and practices taught, and whether they are current.
